    US military remington 10-R???

Information about this shotgun is proving to be quite scarce. I have this up on multiple forums, just trying to find out more about it and if it is authentic. I admit, I am out of my element here, so I figured I would ask you fine folks if I found the real deal or a dud. I picked this up for 300 bucks, figuring the us ordnance stamp made it least at worth that, but saw the value of these things all over the board. It is a Remington 10-R, US marked, with matching receiver and barrel. Beyond that I know very little. Is it the real deal? Any additional info? Is it a gem or a rock? This is also up in the US arsenal forum. Thank you all. Information on these is pretty sparse.

Very cool shotgun. I've always wanted one. Sell it to me.

          But, seriously. Very cool shotgun.

              Ahh... Bravo!

              And, again: sweet ol' shotgun!

What do you have planned for it?

I will likely make some super light loads specifically for it to shoot once ina. Blue moon. Other than that, ill oil it up, find some accessories for it if I can and put it in the US part of my collection. Do you know where I can find more info? I can find hardly anything on the military 10-R, or if this is authentic or its value.

Looks like American Rifleman had a piece on this shotgun in the Nov2009 issue. Starts on page 74.

Looks like Remington made a trench gun version, and a riot gun version ( marked "10-R" ). I guess you have the riot gun version. Remington made 1,150 of them.

Good article, and it's pretty much exactly what you want.

This month's issue of Military Surplus magazine had a good article on US Remington model 10 trench guns. I am done with it and will mail it to you at no cost if you desire.

The trench models would have a bayo lug, that is why yours would be considered a riot gun.
If you can verify it's authenticity, it may be a rare and desireable gun.

Thank you for this. While I still want to verify the firearms is authentic, this article pretty much told it all. At first glance my shotgun apprars to be an original configuration military riot gun (one of 1150).

I think a store down the road had this months and last months. I will go check it out. It will be neat to have the articles to go with the gun. Thanks for the heads up!
