First time shooting Sporting Clays

Went to Comanche Hills yesterday for the first time and shot one of their Sporting Clays courses(it was our "Shoot Away" session for shotgun league). That was a lot of fun! I have shot 5-stand before, but this was a lot more fun!

Ysr_racer actually introduced me to it about 7 years ago. Told me to bring 100 shells, loaned me a gun and showed me how it's done. If you're on the fence and in the area, shoot him a PM. I've been shooting ever since. Brad is a good guy.

You had posted in the past of shooting Raahauge's near Dunnigan. That looks like an interesting place to try. It's 1.25 hours from my house; Comanche Hills was an hour away.

I was actually talking about Raahauge's in Corona down by me.

It's off the 91 between the 15 and the 71.

We have been members of Comanche Hills for a couple decades. We love to shoot (and hunt/work the dog) there. Glad you enjoyed it.

Quail Point in Zamora has a nice course as well. They are up 505 before Raahagues. They have held he state shoot there in recent years.

Probably, I've been to Coyote Valley, Rooster Ranch, Birds Landing, Camanche Hills, Quail Point...

I shot a couple rounds at Comanche last summer/spring (Red course). Pretty cool. I've heard good things about Birds Landing. Have not shot there yet. For me, it's about the same distance/time (little over an hour) as Comanche, just a different direction.

Birds landing may be closer to you if you are between Dunnigan and Camanche. They have a old course and have a pretty good pro-shop as well. I haven't been there in a while but my shooting buddies always speak well of it.

You can also try Coon Creek which is in Lincoln. Not as nice as the other places but they have a course that will keep you entertained and challenged.

Placerville area. Comanche was ~1hr. Usually shoot trap/skeet at Sac Valley.
