    Model 12 replacement barrel

If possible I would like to put a barrel on my Model 12 so I can shoot steel shot with it. Does anyone know of anyone making Model 12 barrels?

I don't think you are going to find what you are looking for.

There have been many discussions on the internet involving this very subject. You will find opinions from don't do it for safety/cost reasons and you will be better off buying another shotgun for steel, to having your current barrel opened up to "cylinder" choke and shoot away.

I am not recommending that you do anything, this is only what I read on the internet.

I have not seen newly manufactured replacement barrels for model 12 shotguns on the market. I have looked a few times over the last 10-15 years. One of the things that makes the Model 12 such a beautiful gun are the thin light weight barrels in comparison to say an 870, or most modern pump shotguns. My cousin blew up his model 12 barrel duck hunting in the early days of steel shot shells. He is not convinced it was the shells, or an issue with the barrel, but possibly an obstruction. No way of telling at this point. About 10-15 years ago I looked for a replacement barrel for him. We came to the conclusion at that time the cost of a used replacement barrel was prohibitive and he moved on to a newer gun. I think the barrelless action sits in his safe as I write.

Get some bismuth for ducks. CA's lead ammo ban has made a lot of older guns useless for general hunting, probably what they had in mind.

            ><

Buy a used M12 mod or IC choked barrel..... Install and your good to go...You will have the original barrel saved ....a quick search and I found a few on the net

Steel will effect only barrels by scoring or slightly bulging at the choke , if it does at all with modern ammo...that is open to debate. It will not effect the rest of the gun
