Benelli SBEII vs Beretta A400

can't decide on which to buy for my next duck gun..

from what I've read, the Benelli seems to require less cleaning, is easier to clean and some may say it is slightly more reliable since it is an inertia driven gun

I've also read the a400 cycles a lot faster and handles recoil a lot better

I currently hunt with a pump gun or an o/u so the recoil differences to me won't make a difference..

I'm stuck on these two because when i went to the store and held nearly EVERY semi auto, these two felt the best and pointed the best for me, but I couldn't tell you which one felt better

I'm still undecided and was hoping ya'll could push me in one direction or the other....

I'm stuck on getting one of these two because they feel the best in hand and point well, but I am unable to shoot them...

Which one do you shoot better?
If you can't answer that, it's a coin toss anyway...no matter what anyone here says.
If they feel about the same, and you can't shoot either of them before you buy, buy the one that looks the best to you and don't look back.

Beretta's are extremely reliable me and my hunting partners all shoot Beretta's rarely clean them and have and have never had a one fail. My extrema 2 is 10 years old gets cleaned once a year about 3500 to 4000 rounds. if I drop it in the mud then I run a bore snake though it and pore a couple of bottles of water through the action and continue hunting

Yep, same for my A300. It takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.

My wife and I both use Benelli shotguns for trap shooting, they are simple to maintain and very easy to clean. The Super Black Eagle is similar to my Supersport, in that the receiver is a 2-piece design and the top can be removed for very easy cleaning.

Another nice thing about Benelli shotguns is that due to their popularity, you can always find replace parts like springs for them easily. For example, you can get replace springs from Wolff for the Benelli SBE.

If you plan to use the same shotgun for clay target shooting though, the Beretta might be a better choice. It has less recoil so over the course of a high volume shooting session, it'll be easier on you.

You can't go wrong with either of them, Benelli is part of Beretta group and they're both popular shotguns. These days when I'm at the trap field, if I see a semi-auto, more likely than not it'll be either a Benelli or Beretta.

Buy the one you like best. Both are great shotguns and you can't go wrong with either.

Comes down to preference... Beretta is gas operated, Benelli is recoil and the felt recoil will be slightly more on.

Beretta! I have shot both and love my Beretta while the Benelli kicked extremely hard. I also liked the safety location better on the Beretta vs. the Benelli. Not sure if that has changed but when I shot them one was in front of the trigger and one was behind it. I liked it in front.

I'm bias. I'm a Beretta guy. I shot the 302 chambered in 2.75 for nearly 2 decades (750-1000 rounds a year) and graduated up about 4 years ago. I now have the A400 unico with the kickoff chambered in the 3.5 that I use waterfowl hunt in the states. (In Canada I use the guides guns). My sons shoot the A391 and A400 cambered in 3. And my daughter just got the A350 chambered in 3.5. All are reliable, easy to clean and shot very often.

Both are great guns. I don't think there is a wrong choice (between these 2).

I highly recommend Beretta.

Cycling faster is a moot point. Even with the slowest cycling shotguns you can't pull the trigger faster than the shotgun can cycle. Parts availability is better with Beretta. Beretta customer service is legendary for being bad, Benelli CS is very good. The SBE II is definitely more reliable than the A400 but does recoil more. It is more noticeable with light loads. The ComfortTech stock scales well, meaning the more the gun recoils the better the ComfortTech stock works.

I love Beretta O/Us and SxSs, but my duck gun is a Benelli SBE. My backup duck gun is an SBE-II, but I've never needed a backup. My buddy shoots a Beretta and he is constantly having to fiddle with it, clean it, take it apart to see why it won't cycle, take it to the gunsmith to fiddle with it, etc. When it works, it's great, but I'll stick with the SBE.
