mossberg 835 barrel chop

gents i need your advice i own nice mossberg 835 wood stock 28 inch barrel.I have been thinking to modify the gun into home defence pump, if i cut the barrel 18 1/5 can i use it for buck shots or slugs and so on,or sell it and get 590 or 870 what is your expert advice i cant find short barrel for the 835 or tacticool stuff for it.

The 590a1 barrel fits into the 835. i would suggest the 18 inch barrel in a plain jane cylinder choke. With this barrel you can shoot slugs out if it, not like the 835 barrel. The barrel comes parkerized which is also a plus...NOTE you cannot load 3-1/2'' shells into this barrel though, 3'' is the max. Well 3'' is plenty enough to blast bad guys with 00 buck.
