    New VEPR 12's

Manufactured in the Molot factory the Russian Vepr is the Mercedes-Benz of Russian Semi-Auto Shotguns. Includes one original Molot 5 round mag. This version has the Original Factory Wood Thumbhole Butt Stock.

That thing is so gorgeous! I love the VEPR thumb hole stocks much more than the tacti-cool folders on other versions. But I do like the rail on the dust cover and somehow I like the polymer handguard, kind of like a two toned pistol!

Before I bought one though I wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts are on VEPR 12's? Are they good, reliable guns? I see that mags are really expensive BUT thats not enough to scare me away just yet. However, if these things are super unreliable, I dont think Ill take the plunge.

I would go for it! I have a S12, very similar, and it's been very reliable for me. Some people had rougher S12s that needed some work, but the VEPR12s are supposed to be better machined/finished, so I'd imagine you'd be good to go. One thing to keep in mind with these shotguns though, they like good quality mags and full powered ammo. They CAN shoot lighter shells, but you're more likely to have issues. But with the full power stuff (ie what they were designed for) no issues. Same goes for mags, some cheap mags might work ok, but can introduce issues. Best mags are prolly the csspecs ones here

Anywho, I say go for it, everyone who shoots my S12, me included, walks away with a smile.

My VEPR 12 is a tank, shoots everything down to 3 dram (cheap Federal Wally World bulk) just fine. I took the time and polished up the rails, hammer face, BCG rails and put about 100-150rds of 00 buck and slugs through it before it shot the weaker target loads reliably but now it runs like a sewing machine. For me the cheek riser on mine is worthless unless I run an optic on the railed top cover, but other than that its good to go. Surprisingly light shooter even with full power loads and easy to keep on target.

Molot mags can be pricey, but SGM makes ten rounders that work well and are more affordable. Just watch running slugs in them, I've had a few FTF with that combination. But it is by far my favorite semi auto shotgun that I've owned, something about an AK pattern 12ga that just makes me smile.

          We can't own a SPAS-12, SPAS-15 or USAS-12, but we can own a VEPR-12.

That should be reason enough to get it.

That said, you'll probably get more range time from a Vepr in 7.62X39mm due to lower ammo cost (I've only shot slugs through my Vepr 12), farther effective range and less range restrictions.

I own a Vepr-12 (tac welded factory folder version) and honestly it gets taken to the range only about twice a year.

My last range trip, I brought 10 guns and the Vepr 12 stayed in the safe.

It's still cool as **** to own a Vepr-12, however if your budget is limited, get the Vepr AK and shoot the snot out of it.

Video after video online shows the VEPR-12 eating just about anything put in it, from bird-shot to slugs, which can not be said for the Saiga 12. It's due to the gas-block design.

There are even videos of highly-doubtful expose shooters starting off in the video with a biased dislike for the gun, assuming it to be a piece of crap, but then so impressed by it's reliability and performance it's their favorite new gun by the end of their own video.

Excellent firearm, and in my opinion, for what the Saigas were selling at, is well worth the cost. One of my favorite shotguns for what it is.

Good thread to look over if you're unsure about the new draconian AW laws in relation to detachable mag fed shotguns, VEPR, Saiga or otherwise.

My V12 eats EVERYTHING. Csspecs 10 rd steel mags are a must buy!

Love my Vepr12. Cycles Walmart ammo all day long. Once I move out of the state I'm breaking that stock weld.

I see you put the red dot on top of the action. I am trying to decide where to put the red dot myself. I wonder if putting on top of the hand guard is better or not. Any pro/con?

I've never mounted an optic on the gas tube. With that said though, I love the position my red dot is sitting. It holds zero beautifully with the hinged dust cover too.
