I'm curious and want to find out from fellow clay shooters, what's the longest stretch of time you've had to stop clay shooting due to work or other reasons?

Its been a couple of months for wife and I due to the constant traveling I've had to do, wife doesn't like going to range by herself and she also travels with me sometimes.

It is irritating, I've had both my wife's and my own shotgun serviced (spring replacement mainly) but they've been sitting in the safe ever since. And it'll be at least another 2 weeks before I can find time to shoot.

3 years, I was sent to work on projects in New Zealand, Ireland, and Germany.
I could have gone to clubs while I was working but there were more interesting things to do in my off time.
Nothing weird happened to my guns until I got back.

I only shoot clay pigeons for fun with a little 12v portable thrower. The longest I went without shooting them was a few months. Effing rain.

I know what you mean though. It is always a nice feeling to get back out there.

I wish I can do that, my business travels had been pretty tight with schedule. I'll typically land at night, sleep at hotel, then work with customers whole day next day before rushing off to the airport again. Rinse and repeat.

Quite a number of my colleagues are gun owners though, during our last sales conference we spoke about bringing our guns and going to the range next time. So maybe we'll do that, we'll see.

I would just schedule a vacation day right after a trip, since I was there anyway. Then I'd just pay for an extra night in a hotel, and an extra day in a rental car.

For years my travel mirrored yours, except on an international basis.

Guns were largely illegal or severely restricted in most of the countries I visited.

However, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Upon return from abroad I would go shooting with family and friends.

You're in your earning years, so compromises are unavoidable.

However, a little creative thinking may also prove to be a bonding experience with colleagues and clients....

That's a nice way to do it, most of my trips to too closely packed together unfortunately, I am sometimes redirected to another location while I'm still in the air and had to go change my flight after landing in the connecting airport.

But on the next one that doesn't have another trip following it I'll look into taking vacation days and go shooting, thanks for the suggestion.

All of the clubs on my website for the east coast with the exception of the ones in Florida were on business trips.

My next business trip just happens to have a layover in ohio. I may make my way over to visit Dennis Devault to have a stock made

I don't see what the issue is. When you get back from travel, you book a nice shooting vacation for the both of you to a shooting park you've never been to before.
