rem 1100 syn comp 12 ga

So I got a 1100 syn competition shotgun

Nice gun adjustable comb ect. In fact I shot my first 25 with it just the other day.

Problem is, it weighs a ton! Well... 9 plus pounds. Wears me out in a couple rounds.

So I'm wondering how much weight I could save by going to a 26" vent rib skeet barrel or a 28" vent rib light contour barrel

    Thanks

Not much, the 1100 is a heavy one. Part of it is because there are more parts on an autoloader than a pump, over/under, or side by side.

As nice as the 1100 comp is, if you need lighter weight go with a Beretta A series (A300, A400, A391, etc).

it's the pro-bore barrel that they use on the comp that contributes much of the weight. Go find a used 1100 barrel to put onto that gun and it will make a big difference. I had a friend go that route and he really likes his gun now (especially with all of the ken rucker goodies that come standard on the comp synthetic)

Target guns typically weigh more in order to absorb recoil in high volume shooting. I have seen target o/u that weigh a couple of pounds more than that. Practice mounting your gun at home to help build stamina. I try to do at least 50 mounta a couple of times a week. Helps with muscle memory as well.

They are built heavy on purpose. Most people want a heavy skeet gun.

Well, thanks for the suggestions. I'm not the beefiest guy nor so young anymore.

I hate to give up that pro bore with the overbore and elongated forcing cones but a shorter lighter barrel probably will make a difference.

GuessI'm annoyed that rem has the weight at 8.4 and the gun is nearly 3/4 lb. heaver than that.

                Oh well.

I'm just giving you a hard time on the weights thing, but seriously, just shoot it for awhile. A heavy gun is really nice when shooting a bunch of rounds of trap or skeet.
