Extended choke

So their are some type of choke that are extended to an inch and half or whatever it is, compared to factory standard chokes that fits flush inside the barrel tube. Now talking only about the extended choke, does the barrel with the extended choke grain more velocity than the shortly standard factory choke. I ask because I remember a video clip on YouTube how comparing barrel length between a 18.5inch to a 28inch barrel, how it made a huge difference between the two but with this being said with the 1inch or longer choke do you grain any velocity. So for example an 28inch barrel add with a extended choke bring the barrel to 29.5, now make the barrel longer than be4 should incress velocity?

There are few advantages of extended chokes.
They can have longer parallel section which helps with pattern.
They can be mounted without tools.
They can be ported which can help with muzzle jump.

The negative is that they add to the length.

Extended chokes do not increase velocity.

In shotguns, most of the powder burns within first 8-12 inches, so velocity difference between 18 and 26 inches barrel is negligible. Longer barrels are mostly for swing.

The added 1.5 inch on a 28" barrel will not make any noticeable difference in velocity. Your never going to find a box of shells loaded so precise that you can find a consistent outcome in velocity.

One advantage I find in extended chokes, if I like the performance in the first place, is that they protect the barrel from bluing wear at the muzzle.

I like extended chokes and have them for all of my shotguns save one.

Tests have proven they don't pattern better than flush chokes with one exception - they SOMETIMES pattern better with large size steel shot(such as duck and geese loads).

Your velocity will not improve. I buy extended chokes for two reasons:
1. I can tell at a glance which choke is in my shotgun.
2. Most important to me is that extended chokes protect the crown of the barrel.

At the pressures developed in a shotgun, porting will make no difference at all...Except for the added pain in the azz to clean them.

One other advantage is protecting the end of your barrel.

You can rest the muzzle on your shoe without dicking up the bluing I guess...
