    Looking for Remington Replacement barrel

    I have a Wingmaster 2 3/4" & 3" magnum pump w/ 30" full choke vented High-gloss finish.
    It's from 1982.
I would like to update it with a Rem choke barrel capable of firing steel shot.

I got the part number from Remington F240325AS

    It's Available from Midway USA, Part # 913323. It's $279.99.

Cabelas has the Matte finish for $199.99, but would not look good on a high-gloss Wingmaster.

Does anyone have a less expensive source for these Remington Barrels?

Have you tried eBay? Lots of barrels there. Also, gunpartscorp.com.

That's an option. Would prefer to keep the old barrel intact but who knows? Thanks.
          ebay has none.
          gunpartscorp = expensive.

I'm going to suggest "Jack First"

They ask you to buy catalog but if you only want one or two items and you Know what you want,
just call and ask one of the very helpful people there.
I think they can tell you whether it's in stock and give you a price right then.
they also make their own parts like rare or odd spec. screws, firing pins.. etc.
I find them more helpful than the big corporations.
Jack is a World War II veteran /Iwo Jima, started up in California and then he moved to the Black Hills Of South Dakota.
He even invites you to stop by on their website.

There are many 30" full choke barrels out there. Just like the one I already have.
I'm looking for a 30" rem choke system for steel shot.
It's starting to look like Midway or the Highway.

As sated, just keep watching eBay, or even Gunbroker.com. I waited for months to find the right deal on a Kimber .22 conversion at the right price. Got it on Gunbroker for $200 with four mags.

Another option is, on of the mods/vendors at http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/index.php does choke tube installation. There are a couple vendors there who do, and it costs a lot less than a new barrel.

I'm in the same boat. I Have a full choked 30" barreled 870 Wingmaster which was my first shotgun purchased by my mother for me in 1975. I was a lucky kid. At this point I'm going to keep it full choked for turkey hunting which is all I really use it for anymore. Once the stupid laws change in the next few years eliminating lead use here in California I am either just going to ream it out to a modified constriction and shoot steel at the Turkey, or I may just send it off and have choke tubes installed. I watch ebay regularly for a cheap barrel that excepts tubes, but it appears that having tubes installed in my full ventilated ribbed barrel probably makes more sense as the last time I looked its about the same cost for a different barrel as the tube installation on my barrel. I think the days of long full choked barrels for the most part are over and ended when lead shot was banned for waterfowl hunting, which I believe most of these long barreled guns were configured for. I know that's why I opted for the full choke long barrel when it was purchased. Turkey hunting is the only use I have for a true full choked gun these days, so I don't think there is any reason not to make the barrel useful again. Like it has been stated, the Wingmasters from the 70's and 80's were great guns, but are not particularly valuable or uncommon, so you probably are not really effecting the value by modifying your barrel to make it more useful. I vote modify your existing barrel and enjoy your gun. That's what I'm going to do in the near future!

Just took a look at ebay and it seems prices have not changed much recently, and you can still get a 2 3/4" and 3" 870 express barrel with ventilated rib and a choke tube for about a $100 including shipping. Probably the least expensive option. I just measured my barrel and it looks like thin walled choke tubes would be required for a retrofit based on a couple of web based gun smiths that offer the choke tube installation services. Bummer as Rem-chokes are cheap on ebay, and at gun shows, so another reason one of these barrels is likely the least expensive option if your on a tight budget. A couple of choke tube gunsmith links below. Thanks for getting me thinking about this again. I look forward to hearing what you decide to do.

Shotgun choke tubes, installation in 12 20 28ga .410 bore. Screw In Choke. Standarad and thin-wall systems, Barrel porting, gunfitting, recoil pad installation, lengthening, polishing long forcing cones, chamber and head spacing work. Custom gunfitting and refinishing. Pads and sights, Bob Day, Shotgun Modifications, R&D Custom Barrel, Americhoke

got my 12 gauge Wingmaster in the 1970's...had choke tubes installed in the mid-late 1980's..................So you can get your 870 tube and you get to use steel and have the original barrel.
