Let's all say a little prayer for Corey at Moore N Moore. The Sand Fire is burning pretty close to one of the best sporting clay ranges around. The map I see shows 2.4 files of dry brush between the fire and the range.

Update from Moore-N-Moore (San Fernando, CA) - Re: the fire !!
From Cory Moore:
Sand Fire Update @ Moore N' Moore
FIRST OFF
Thank you to all of the firefighters risking their necks to keep us all safe. These guys are doing an amazing job and the conditions for fire-fighting are horrible right now. We appreciate everything you're doing. Be safe!
THERE'S NO WAY IN
All roads entering Little Tujunga Canyon are closed due to the fire and we have no idea when they will be reopened. We will notify you by Facebook, Email and at moorenmoore.com when the roads are open.
JUST IN CASE
Yesterday, we removed many of our machines off of the upper hills if fire were to spread south through Saturday evening. Luckily no harm was done to Moore N' Moore or any of the Angeles Ranges.
Hopefully we'll be able to reach the club tomorrow (Monday) and start re-connecting the throwers. If not, we'll most likely be closed on Tuesday as well.
Thanks to everyone who has shown concern with emails and phone calls. A special thanks to Jim Bloomfield who was able to help us yesterday morning with the machines.
TRAINING AREA = GOOD TO GO!
Jim B and I connected the new Training/Practice area. The Training Area will serve new shooters with 4 machines set for easy breakage and a great place for our instructors John and Candice Fowler to teach the basics before heading on to the course.
HEY TOURNAMENT SHOOTERS
The 4 machines on the training area will be set up for practice before the tournaments begin between the hours of 8 and 9 AM. You asked for it... you got it...now use it before the fires take it away!
Thank you,
Cory

I hope Moore-N-Moore survives, the southern end of this fire really blew up yesterday.
I'm at the northern end of it and was put on mandatory evacuation last night.
Where I'm at doesn't look to bad, the foothills heading towards the 210 on the other hand...
To any Fire fighters here on CALGUNS, my hat is off to you, thanks for all your hard work!"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"Comment

In looking at a detailed map of the burn area as of this morning around 10:00, it looked like the fire was held a mile (maybe a bit more) to the north of MnM. Let's hope so.
Anxiously waiting word from Corey on what the actual status is...Comment

There have been updates getting posted to Angeles Shooting Ranges Facebook page (the range next to Moore N' Moore).
Last two updates from them:
Bad news everyone. The fire started back up north of the range. So the range WILL NOT BE OPEN TUESDAY 7/26/2016. We will probably not be open Wednesday either. I am just as sad as you are!!!! Everyone please pray for the range that it will not be another victim of this monster!!This is surely a wicked wicked fire! That picture was from last night and as it does look ominous, it was really still a couple of ridges away and on the west side of Kagel Canyon (the community to west of the range). Everyone say a little prayer that the wind doesn't change direction towards the range and we should be OK. Please just remember to say a prayer for some of our employees and all of the other people that are being affected by the Sand Fire! The range is in good condition and we hope to be open soon. Once I know something about tomorrow Tuesday 7/26/2016, I will post it.Comment

I called ASR this morning and talked to a lady in the office. Good news right there. But, she said the fire is close, but, burning north and away at that time.
Lets hope the range and surrounding areas will be ok.Comment

It's a fluid situation, with the doubling of assets fighting this thing I hope they can get it under control soon. Where I'm at the smoke is almost gone and the ash is no longer falling like snow. But there are still many road closures, and accurate information is hard to come by..."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"Comment
