    Finally... A Shotgun

Recently added a 12 gauge to my collection. This is my first shotgun. Got it from a fellow Calgunner. I reckon no respectable gun collection is complete without a shotty

It was between a Remington 870 and Mossy 500. After some research, I decided on the Mossberg. The one I got is a Persuader with a 18.5 inch barrel.

Looking to pick up a 28" vent ribbed barrel. If anyone happens to have one for sale, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Just wait till you shoot it, its the most rewarding punishment your shoulder will enjoy.

Yeah, haven't shot it yet. I guess it's sort of a, "no pain, no gain" experience.

Ha, way ahead of you I already removed the stock butt pad. The recoil pad you see in the picture is a Limbsaver.

Is it a home defense gun or a collection item? I would recommend the magpul tactics shotgun videos on reloading, lights, and shells attached to the gun if its a HD gun.

The 500 series is a good shotgun. The limbsaver was a good addition because of the lighter weight of the Mossberg. It will help.

The Magpul shotgun video is good and provides basic info on how to run it but has alot of focus on the Remington 870.

I guess everyone should have at least one shotgun, but unless you hunt they sit all the time.

You might want to get a magazine extension if it's for HD.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Lot's of barrels on ebay. You might want one with interchangable chokes.

I've recently went on a shotgun binge, as I'm getting away from big game hunting. Have had a 870 Wingmaster 20 ga for about thirty years. Then, recently bought a Mossberg 500 20ga and a 12ga. Now, waiting on a new Mossberg 930 shotgun. All for upland bird chasing. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but, you just HAVE to have more than one. OP; if you buy a 28" barrel for your 500, make sure it takes chokes. You have a good gun. Enjoy.

I don't think the mossberg 500 accepts mag extensions

also, are you looking for removable chokes on the 28" barrel, or fixed mod?

my 28" probably will never get used... It is a vent rib, but does isn't threaded for chokes
"It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.

CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ Quiet

It doesn't accept mag extensions, BUT, you can convert it to a 7+1 mag and barrel, OR you can even convert it to an 8+1 590 mag and barrel. Just need to match the proper barrel to the proper mag/spring endcap.

The mag tubes are interchangable between 500s and the 590. http://www.brownells.com/magazines/s...prod25124.aspx
