Agree. I have both the a300 and a400.

The xplor recoil system is awesome for 3 1/2" shells and also works with the 3" shell.

I like the SBE - it's a work horse. However, if you're doing a lot of shooting, you'll appreciate the xplor stock and lighter weight of the beretta (at least it feels lighter than a SBE but not certain if it is).

I shoot down in Mexico every year and hunt ducks in CA. I included a pic of the shotguns they use in Mexico. The gunsmith said the Benelli's hold up better than the Berettas. I think they Beretta's gas system requires more cleaning than the Benelli's. It's crazy how they clean and how many rounds go through them before they clean them. Carb cleaner, WD 40, motor oil, dirty lead ammo and a thousand or so rounds before it's taken apart to be cleaned.

had the sbe 2 for a while. got my hands on a maxus and never looked back. In my opinion the maxus kicks less and I get back on target much faster and I think the maxus swings better.

I don't know about you guys, but I only shoot 3" shells. 3.5" beat the hell out of me.

I hunt everything from ducks to Squirrel including turkey, so 3.5 is nice to have feature

One of the members offered to try his SBEII. Will see tomorrow.

Also, i prefer synthetic stock over wood one.1. weight, 2. maintenance, while duck hunting the last thing i want to worry about is not to damage my beautiful wood, i need a tool and not a show case exemplar.
                3. I heard, maybe i'm wrong, that synthetic stocks do not work well with xplor system or xplor system does not work well with synthetic stock- another concern.

3.5 for yotes, geese & turkeys.......of course you don't need it but it can give you more range and knock down power.

Father in law purchased the Beretta Extrema about 15 years ago. It's beat up on the outside from sitting on a concrete or steel tank but no rust or a single problem. He's not good about cleaning his shotgun either.

I think the Browning Maxus, Beretta A400, and Benelli Super Black Eagle 2 are all around the same price point.

The A300 outlander is $650-$700 for synthetic and $750-800 for wood stock. I think the wood feels like cheap plastic and prefer the synthetic. If you live in LA area you can rent the A300 synthetic at Triple B Clays for $25. Try it before you buy it. They also have many others like Remington 1100 for rent as well.

You said assuming the fit is the same but it isn't with those three. The comb on the Maxus is quite a bit lower. It's real simple, buy the one that fits best. The Maxus does have less felt recoil than the other two.

Tried the SBEII. definitely big NO. Recoils is no fit for the price. Unbelievable hard kicker for a gun with this price range. It is like my Mos500 or A5.
I thought they could tame the recoil much better for inertia driven gun of this price.
A300 no because i think 3.5 shell is not a bed benefit for the coming non lead era where you want to get the most out of steel.

Tomorrow i'm going to compare Maxus and A400

What do you think about A400 in synthetic stock?

Click on the link and look at the bottom left where it says "waterfowl shotguns". Click on that and start looking. The A400 is an awesome shotgun. The synthetic stock holds up well, as does camo finish. I have the xplor with wood - good for everything except rainy days. I put wax on my wood to protect it. I'm sure it would be ok but that's what I have the camo a300 for.

If you're in the sac area, let me know.
