    590A1 Heatshield

Whats up guys, I pick up my 590A1 with in the next couple of days and wanted to know if theres such a thing as a heavy barrel heatshield? Ive heard of people that actually put a regular 590 heatshield on their A1's and fits, but ive actually heard that its a tight fit and they cannot take it off? Would taking the heatshield off be necessary after its installed ? Does somebody make a 590A1 heatshield ?

I put the metal one on mine and yes it's a tight fit, but you can take it off. I used a folded over dollar bill as a sacrificial go between on the barrel and shield.
Filed off the square edges of the barrel retaining ring on the shield so it would slip on easier. I'll try and draw a pic and send it to you.

Aimpro tactical is suppose to be working on a new design specifically for the 590A1. However, I just checked their website and it is not up yet.

            Would any of these work?

                Like this?

IF you can find one, they are pricey. One went for $310.00 on GB.

                The P/N is 16335P.

OR, you can try going the cheaper route and modding a regular one:

Ruined the barrel, I picked one up and had to have it removed when i sent it to mossberg for a fix. Deep scratches and had to have mossberg refinish the barrel ***.

This is great, thanks a lot. I have a 590A1 and just wasn't going to bother with tacking on a regular heatshield but since you dug up a proper heavy barrel one I will order one.

bringing back an old thread here since i posted about this very same heat shield.

i called them last week and they said they are on backorder for the 20" till (hopefully) late Jan.

Price is the same as specified in the earlier post.

I believe they do have the 18.5" one in stock

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I figure this topic is still valid today...

Here's a question I have; will the 18.5 in. shield fit on the 20 in. barrel? Perhaps someone with both models can experiment.

Seems a heck of a lot cheaper, and I like mine shorter anyways...
