If it is a factory defect Mossberg has excellent warranty service.

I was having a similar issue. This fixed it right up. Smooth as silk now with no feed issues.

before you go and start modifying your gun, to what some dudes on the internet are saying, I would check that ammo....

I used 2 different brands of rifled slugs at the range, and also my snapcaps, and haven't had a problem yet. and the inside of mine looks exactly the same wit ha snap cap installed
"It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.

CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ Quiet

There's a defect. It should feed all kinds of ammo.

There's a defect. A lot of naysayers regarding the Walmart universal Winchester loads. I've NEVER had any issues with them ever on my pump guns. Mossberg 500s are priced the way they are and wouldn't be a a standard of reliability of they didn't shoot cheap ammo.
