    April 30th skeet clinic

Three of us arrived at triple b's to take a clinic with Don. After a brief introduction to Don and the sport, we began discussing the body mechanics of shooting and mounting the gun. We did several dry runs with Don settling for nothing than the best. We began shooting on station 1 low house where we all began to get into the swing of things. When we went to station 2, many of us began to forget the basics and faulter. This is when Don began to make us start back at the basics to reinforce what was taught. He is a no hold bars instructor which is great. He isn't teaching us to break birds on that field. He is teaching us techniques to break birds on any field.

After a short break, we began working on station 8 high house which we all slowly became profiecnent. We finished off the 2 hour clinic shooting doubles until targets ran out.

Well worth the $30. Definitely going back soon!

Thanks for this great summary. Yep - that's Don - demanding and effective!

Glad you had a good time. Look for new clinic dates soon and come on out again. You'll be amazed at the progress you'll make at the second clinic!

Sounds like a good day at the skeet field. Where was this clinic held?

Triple B Clays in South El Monte in the Whittier Narrows natural preserve area. It is right off the 60 freeway at Rosemead. If you have never been there prepare to have your mind blown. Who would know there was a shotgun park right in the middle of the city. And it is only shotgun.

The clinic is usually held at skeet field 10. Look for Don's minivan or Richard's mini truck. They can also provide you a sound regulation/clays shotgun 12 or 20 gauge if you don't have one. Just request it through Trapperjohn.

Thanks. I have a general idea of where the range is located. I used to shoot smallbore competitions at the Los Angeles Rifle & Revolver Club across the Hwy 60 in El Monte. Same thing, you would never realize that there is an outdoor range in the middle of the city.

A couple of last questions, is the clinic every weekend? Should I call and register first?

No there is not a clinic every weekend. The dates are posted on a sticky at the top of the shotgun page. You PM member TrapperJohn. Here is a link, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1081507
You will find TrapperJohn's link at the top of that page.
