    Rock Island M5 shotgun

This is a question for those who own this shotgun. With the stock removed, do you see two bolt holes on the back of the Receiver? On the back of my receiver I have two holes drilled for the stocks long bolt. It looks as if someone ****ed up and drilled two holes right next to each other. Is this a defect, or just how they build shotguns in the Philippines?

Bought it at Big 5 about 3 weeks ago. I'll try to have pictures posted soon. I have noticed other M5 shotguns with this two hole deal. Here is a thread over on the 1911 forums talking about it.

If you do a google search, I think you'll find this is normal. I read that when I was thinking of getting one.

If you read your link, I think an explanation is posted.

I bought a new M5 shotgun from a dealer table at a local gun show. The box was not opened, and the weapon was still cased in its original plastic cover. when I got home I removed the plastic and began cleaning the oil off of the gun. I removed the stock and this is what I find (see attachments)...

"Actually both holes belong there. Just not so close together. Hole in the center is for the stock bolt(obviously). Hole to the left is a relief hole for a part on the breech bolt to pass through. It was the same on all the high standard riot guns too."

I have an AMT .22lr semi-pistol I purchased in the 1980's. I have never even field stripped it. I run ammo thru it and clean it. Today it has enjoyed thousands of rounds and is worth more than twice what I paid. I would never imagine to turn a Pinto into a Porsche. It can't be done. Buy a Porsche.

Why in the world are you taking a bottom of the line weapon apart that is built for cheap and nothing more? It either fires after break in or it doesn't.

You're wasting your time and getting frustrated.

Took it apart to clean all of that **** they put on the shotgun.

Yeah. All M5 has two holes in the rear receiver portion. Supposedly it's for machining purpose. The action is slick but the exterior finish on these are real rough.
