How do you like the Summit Sporting? The 12ga is on my list of possibilities.
Why would you sell it?

I don't think there's "one best shotgun". At the price point you're looking at, they're all good.

Asking us to pick a shotgun for you is like asking us to pick a car, a suit, or a wife for you.

Those are decisions you have to make for yourself. The more you can test drive a car (or a wife) the happier you'll be in the end. But there are no guarantees.

That's why you see used cars and used wives for sale.

Wait, I actually do have 13. I forgot about a 30" Browning 425 in 20ga that I never shoot

It's so sweet of a gun, I couldn't bring myself to sell it.

Resale? Hell I didn't get a dozen shotguns by selling them. And you shouldn't either

I've only sold a few shotguns along the way, I still have a fair number in the safe. I can think of 4 sales so far. 1 was an 1100 that I got for 150 and sold after a clean-up for 350 (it needed a thorough cleaning and a light touch of the oil and 4/0 steel for the rust) to someone who didnt have a shotgun for herself. The other ones were a 20ga O/U that was too heavy and just wrong, it swung like a chunk o fencepost, a 12ga sxs that was just nasty-fitting and never shot for me, and the last another 20 that someone at work desperately wanted for her kid for Christmas. I was getting out of 20s at the time, plus I had won it on a bet and really didnt have much "investment" in it.

Does having them stolen count? (ask me about the NRA insurance!.. worth it!)

That mostly leaves me with all nicer stuff, which is the reason I sell or trade. If I am selling boomsticks, it's because I have a nicer one in mind or on the way, though i'd have trouble even thinking of something nicer than a CG or Zoli! I would begrudge every nick and dent.

Well, I'm not asking anyone to pick a gun for me. The question was...

which would you buy...and why?

The reason for the question is to gain more knowledge about these guns.

Is one design better than the other?
Is one brand more prone to having issues than the other?

My research so far says both are quality guns, both have excellent customer service, the CG will feel and handle similar to a Browning while the Zoli will feel and handel similar to a Perazzi.

I'm just looking for more information from owners before I choose.

No, and, no. As I said, when you get to that price point, all things are equal.

Why would you sell it?

Have not shot it much, and when I did it was not to my fitting...I need to set the trigger back and take 1/4" off of the recoil pad. Its not one of my regular shooters. It came to me as part of a horse trade

I took it for the following reasons...#1, I like it....quality, wood grade, I can fit it to me without having to take it to a fitter and the prices/ value have been rising for the past 4-5 years. It was a good buy for me.
Dislikes , I may not get past the position of the palm swell...does not fit or feel exactly as I would like.

Why sell ....I have others that I shoot well and enjoy. If my wife likes it and will enjoy it, I'll let her have it

Interesting, before I buy, I'll shoulder several more guns and keep this point in mine when doing so.

Well, I went out and tried a couple CG's yesterday. I found their Sporting models will not work for me, constantly shooting over the targets and if I were to shave down the stock, I'd be looking at the back of the receiver...No bueno.
I switched to an Ascent and it was much better, started hitting targets and it felt more natural to me. The LOP on these guns is to long for me and there is not enough drop at the heel, but I knew that going in, and it's an easy fix.
The guns are well balanced and look and feel like they are well made, I think I could get along well with one of the Ascent models.
I would really like to shoot a Zoli Z-Sport before I buy, but I haven't found an available gun to try...Anyone out there have one I could try? I'm willing to drive a couple hours and pay for shells and targets for me and you just to try it...

No, I really like the look of the Sporting model the best but the Ascent fits the best...but I think it's an ugly gun. If I shoot the Zoli Z-Sport as well as the Summit Ascent I'll buy it. I just need to shoot one...

Life's to short to shoot an ugly gun...unless it's all that fits

I am in the same boat! I will be in the market in the next few months. Im between a beretta 687 and a caesar guerini summit. The summit is a bit more but much nicer. The wood on the beretta is not nice at all, but resale value is better. But then again ive never sold a gun, even the ones im not fond of. Where did you shoot the CG's? Triple b's wants 50 bucks to shoot one, bit much.

I don't know if they are the same but I had an Antonio Zoli for a few years. I let it go due to no parts availability.
