How to attach a sling to this Maverick 88

Got this shotgun from Big 5:

There is no sling swivels on this shotgun. No holes to insert swivels either.

you could get a patrol type sling, looping around the butt stock, and a clamp on the magazine tube front sling swivel.

Got this today. Is it safe to drill a hole in the stock in order to install the swivel?

Yes if it is a solid wood stock.

If it is a hollow plastic stock with a removable butt plate, the machine screw type with a washer and nut on the inside are better.
