Bringing Skeet Gun to Las Vegas

    Hi:

My daughter is going to the US Youth shoot in Vegas in July. I was told that the strip hotels don't allow guns in their rooms. The Hotels off the strip that do are booked so I want to stay downtown. does anyone know anything about bringing your guns? If I break it down and carry it in a backpack would anyone know.

If you use valet parking, it should be pretty safe too as valet parking usually uses good parking spots with security.

All of them are booked? I wouldn't want to stay on the strip, it's too far and trafficy for getting to the Clark County Shooting complex.

Don't leave your gun in your car, that's just asking for it, valet or not. I travel to shoot a lot, and I would never consider doing so.

I bring guns into hotel rooms in Vegas all the time. Don't ask, don't tell.

Besides, the SHOT SHOW is there every year. Nobody cares.

Assuming the gun breaks down, just put it in a duffle bag. I know lots of Front Sight shooters stay and the Silverton Casino. Lots of shooters stay at the Aliante Casino near the Clark County Shooting Complex. I believe the Aliante provides sponsorship to the shooting complex.

Doesn't the hotel room become your temporary residence when you rent it. Thereby giving you the right to protect your living quarters with whatever method you choose?

I'd keep it quiet and take it with me. Put up the do not disturb sing so the maids stay and make your own bed.
              Sorry, not sorry.

not sure about downtown hotels but I have been staying at Aliante Hotel and Casino, stayed there for a recent S/C shoot. It's the closest to the range, short 15 minutes with cheap gas on the way. Food choices are OK and they have an IMAX and arcade. You could walk in and out of the lobby with your long gun cases with no problem. Ask for discounts for Clark county tournament shooters.

I took a bunch of guns to vegas during CES last year. Like 10 or 12 of them in total. I called the Venetian (major hotel on the strip where I was staying) and asked what their thoughts were. They said to ask for security when I arrive, and tell them I'd like to store some firearms in their armory. Sounded good to me, since I wasn't keen on having THAT many firearms in my room or my car.

So, I did just that. Security was very friendly, and walked me back into their offices and let me put the guns in their storage location myself, then they handed me a tag. When I left a week later, I asked for Security again, showed them the tag, and they walked me back into their offices to collect my guns, which were right where I left them. No cost, no hassle.

Just make sure you have it in a locked case so nobody fondles it. I honestly felt like my guns were more secure there than in my own home, they were very professional. They mentioned that they want to make it as easy as possible to check firearms in and out so that nobody is tempted to keep guns in their rooms.

That probably only works at the major casinos that have a real security team, I doubt you'll have the same kind of luck at Best Western.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.
