Houge 12 inch LOP stock on Moss 500?

Hey guys I'm in the market for a 500 and I know the stock LOP is a little too long for me. Does anyone have experience with the Houge 12 inch stock and is it worth getting? I've shot my dad's maverick 88 and I felt way too stretched out when I was shooting it.

I just installed one on my 500 for my kids. They like it and it works great. But you do need a bolt and some washers.

How big are you? What's the purpose of the shotgun?

aimprotactical.com sells a 13" LOP Hogue stock that I found to be perfect. The 12" is way too short for an adult IMO and looks kinda weird.

As in clay targets or stationary targets?

            Is your stock wood?

If just trying to reduce length of pull to fit you in "normal" attire, that can be done (wood stock) cheaper than a Hogue stock and actually adjusted to fit you. "Tactical" length stocks assume body armor, breaching, advancing, etc. They generally aren't for simply smaller statured adults in a "wing shooting" capacity. Good way to get whackedin the nose with your thumb.

I'm 5'8" and had the 12" hogue. It was a bit short on its own, but with a Limbsaver on there, it was just about right. I'm no longer using it as I switched to a magpul grip, which feels even better to me (lop wasn't the issue. I like pistol-like grip). I may be selling the hogue if you're interested, now that I think about it.

Add a limbsaver slip-on and it's a good length and well padded.

Or you can buy it in 13" from the get go but the pad isn't that great.

I had cut down the synthetic stock that came on my mossy. That was just about perfect. Then I "upgraded" to a 13in lop hogue. That was too short for me, but about right with a slip on pad over it. Now I run a standard LOP wood stock with a fat pad on it, and just work on my technique. I find that if I take a slightly off center but still "squared" stance then I move faster and have no problem reaching the forend comfortably, and now I don't bonk myself in the nose when I use a thumb wrap grip.

I'm 5/9 with average length arms and build. I will say that the mossy forearm seems like its pretty far out, especially with the shorter "tactical" model forearms.

So.. in my experience you will probably find the 12in too short. 13in was too short for me, 13.5 was about right. But with practice you won't feel as "stretched" reaching the forearm with a standard LOP.

I agree with the OP, shotgun stocks are way to long. That 13" Hogue is perfect!
