    Slower Pace

If you want to try a slow pace trap game give Bunker Trap a try.
You change positions after every shot not after every 5.
Pace is slower, targets are faster, bigger angles left and right and vertical.
15 traps, 3 for each shooting station. The game will challenge an ATA shooter to be sure.
Oh yeah, they only shoot 24 grams of shot, approx 7/8 loads, but at 1350FPS, and two shots allowed on each target.
Livermore or Martinez have setups for Olympic Trap (Bunker Trap)

If you want to have fun, shoot sporting clays. It's much more social due to the distance between stations.

You're actually showed to talk while you walk to the next one

What the difference between trap, skeet, and sporting clays?

One is for crabby old men, one is for crabby old women, one is called sporting clays

Being a old geezer I want to thank all the youngsters for a good chuckle this morning :goji:
BTW The Feeder is correct. Oh I'm a skeet and sporting clays shooter with a little 5 stand thrown in, just old which of course beats the alternative!

Ive shot pretty much all the shotgun sports out there (Trap, Bunker/Fossa, Skeet, Intl Skeet, 5 stand, Sporting Clays, Flyers Box bird and hand thrown)
and out of all the shooters from each sport, the "ATA" Trap guys seem to always have a hair up their arse. They reaaaally get livid when you screw up the beat the squad is shooting at, me I dont care. Trap bores the crap out of me and yes I do think it is a dying old mans sport.

Going back to the timing of the machine, our trap machine (PAT TRAP) has an interrupter that randomly reverses the direction. Birds are going so slow, to me it doesn't matter where it comes out, trick is how fast you smoke it.

There is a cadence in trap, but you taking an extra second to get on your gun doesn't disturb that. If you love trap, stick to it. Tell the old man you'll slit his throat and watch the dust come out if he keeps b*tching

I started shooting about four years ago and I also started with trap. Within about four months I grew bored and tired quickly of all the "expert" advice. It really was maddening and I didn't want advice.

I hired a coach and learned to shoot skeet and sporting clays. If someone tries to give me advice, I tell them I have a coach, but thanks anyhow. I LOVE sporting clays. Who cares about the magic "25". If you want to have fun, just move on.

I don't expect everything handed to me. Just set it down anywhere. Unknown

and this is why I shoot trap by myself, no one else just me and the clays.

Long ago a friend had the throwing machine with a car battery and I borrowed it often. Now I go to the range and if anybody is on the line, I wait until they are done and shoot alone or I shoot pistols and come back another day.

eh, it stems from the fact that in the shooting world, there are always those old guys that deem it necessary to "correct" anyone that is younger than them on what is the proper way on how to shoot.

it gets tiring and annoying after a while, and then you start to have a very low tolerance for anyone old on the range that doesn't mind their own business.

on another note, the fact that many that posted said they are bored of trap is surprising to me.

i guess it is due to me still being new to it (about 8 months in) and still trying to reach that 25/25 consistency. i'm still averaging only 18/25.

I am tired of people who shoot worse then me trying to teach me because I'm younger. I just turn my headphones up and start breaking clays. Most people shut up when they lose

To be honest I was SO VERY TEMPTED to say something nasty, but thought better of it. It'll be as if I'm bullying some poor old fella, plus I'm now working for a rather well known tech company and it doesn't look good to be causing disturbance in a public venue.

It is disappointing though, the first time wife and I try to bring our trap shooting interest into a fun type competition, we run into this. If participating in this sport, even at a fun type competition level, means I have to put up with people like this, I'll rather not invest further in it. I think we'll try sporting clay and skeet and see which game we'll like to focus on next after she has first 25 in trap.

                            "He's been shooting badly"

that's the key to the problem right there.

I imagine that down the road, as he gets even older crabbier and shoots even worse ...

he will have even more to complain about.

though if the guy is making it some kind of contentious environemnt, the fun goes out. If t ain't fun there's no point. I'd prolly making screwing with the old guy my fun.
                              And shoot it low gun.

I think before I quit the league, I would ask others in the squad if your pace is bothering them. I would point out that old crabby had complained to you about your pace and how it was screwing up his game. I would also explain you didn't want to ruin anyone's day out there.

If others give you feedback along the lines of old crabby, then by all means I would find another venue. On the other hand, you may find that old crabby is a known jerk that everyone else ignores as well. You may even make a few more friends along the way.

I certainly would want to know it was more than one old crabby, before I quit.
