California State shoots are weird:

1. They put them in June when its friggin hot. In the last CA State Shoot for Trap, the place was on fire! I visited to see a vendor (Decot) and it was like 116 degrees outside and I heard people fainted from heat exhaustion.

2. They put clashing dates for trap and sporting clay. Why don't they space it out so that people can shoot at both events? Jun 21 - 26 for trap.

I wonder why don't they hold these events in cooler months? Sure, it might rain but that won't stop the event, people do shoot in the rain right?

I know for sporting clays you need 300 registered targets, or you have to shoot in a penalty class. That's why they don't schedule them in Jan, Feb, March.

Then they take into account what big shoots are going on in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. Sometimes even Texas.

Most (not all) trap shooters don't shoot sporting clays, and most (not all) sporting clays shooters don't shoot trap.

I don't have anything to do with it, I'm just posting what I know.
