    Shortest semi auto shotgun?

What's the shortest overall length can a semi auto shotgun be? I'm keeping barrel length at 18.5 inches and going. Pistol grip only.

    Thanks

Looks like 26" is the shortest allowed.

30" for rifle, 26" for shotgun. CA has its own funny nonsense.

Rethink pistol grip. Really worthless. No way to shoulder and aim it.

              Correction, overall length is...
              30" for semi-auto centerfire rifle
              26" for semi-auto rimfire rifle
              26" for single-shot rifle
              26" for bolt-action rifle
              26" for lever-action rifle
              26" for slide/pump-action rifle
              26" for shotgun

*Overall length measured with the firearm in the shortest possible firing configuration (stock folded/collapsed)

You want to go pistol grip only on a semi auto? What semi auto are you planning on using? I can't think of one that would work that way. Most of them have the recoil spring tucked into the stock.

sorry for the thread drift. but does that mean I can have an AK (or AR) with folding folder, if it can be designed that folder will block trigger mechanism when folded ? how come nobody made one yet ? it can't be that difficult

There are some that can. One that can but is not CA legal is the SPAS 12.

If you only fold it halfway, can you still activate the trigger? If so, I'd bet on it not being legal.

Not entirely true. Centerfire Rifles must be no shorter than 30" in length in operable condition. (CA Law, not Fed)

This. That's why you can't go PGO on most semiauto shotguns.

If you've found one that will work, I really want to know what it is.

The Beretta 1301 has the recoil spring around the magazine tube, so I believe you could put on a pistol grip only if you wanted, although I don't think they make one as of yet. If you own a massage parlor and want to lay some hurt down on the working girls or something, but I don't see much practical use for it beyond that.
