    Mossberg 590a1 help

I just got a 590a1 and the action is kind of rough anyone ever polish parts of the action of a shotgun to make it smoother? Ive owned a number of pumps including mosberg 500s and 835s and none have been as rough. it works everytime ut the effort is significantly more then im used to

I just picked my 500 up today and thought the same thing. Have you disassembled, cleaned and lubed lightly with rem oil? I just finished and it's much smoother. Try this before anything else...

clean and lube it then work the action a bunch of times. if that don't help then i would call mossberg and talk to them. send it in and let them take a look at it. i have 3 mossbergs and have found the customer service to be good.

Clean it. Lube it. Shoot it.
        Repeat.

it's a TOOL, not a friggin' swiss watch.

        meh.

the 590a1 is the .mil model and has parkerized parts.

The parkerized surfaces cause the action to feel rougher untill it is worn off.

Grease/oil it up and put some rounds through it to break it in. It should get smoother.

When I got mine, it was very dirty. Like others have said; wash, lube, shoot, repeat as needed.
