    Shotgun Buying ID requirement Question

Does the address on my ID need to be current? I recently moved and the address on my ID isn't my current residence. My old place and new place are both in california.

Trying to buy my first shotgun from budsgunshop and having it sent to a local FFL.

How much is your LGS going to charge you for transferring the gun from Buds?

They can charge you whatever they want. Typically it's $50 - $100 plus $35 for the DROS.

Call your FFL and ask what they require.
as a minimum you need the California DMV address change form
some FFLs want the drivers license to be correct

A CDL or CID will work. No second proof of residence is required for a long gun.
(Second proof for a handgun, like your DL and Car Registration with the same address)

Shotguns are inexpensive and available. You might save money by ordering from a local FFL, making a new friendly business connection and supporting a brick and mortar store.

Assuming you have the FSC card.

OP not sure if your question has been directly answered but I will say that I bought a shotgun a few months ago and my DL does NOT have my current address (same situation, recently moved and have been in cali both times). My FFL required my CDL for identification purposes and then I used registration for my current address.

Ditto for me too. I had my old CDL + the temp CDL with the new address and had to produce a copy of either my vehicle registration or a PG&E bill under my name showing my current address.

Do you guys know if you have to pay tax on the firearm if you purchase online from somewhere like Buds? That will make a difference between buying local (special order) and online + FFL/dros fees.

I might as well update my information on my CDL and try to get a new card issued before I make my purchase and try to figure out method of purchasing in the mean time.

Any ideas on shops to check out? I'm located in West Los Angeles, don't mind driving a little but don't want to go way out of the way, hence buying online and having it shipped.

CA law allows for you to buy a longgun with just your CADL/ID, even if it does not have your current residence on it. there is no need to provide CA Proof of Residency.

however, federal law says that if you DL/ID does not have your current residence on it, that you provide additional Proof of Identity that is a .gov-issued documennt that has your name and current residence listed on it.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Yes, when you go to DROS the gun, tax will be collected.
