Model 1200 or Sears 200

Just looking for some input on deciding between a Winchester 1200 vs Ted Williams 200 shotgun. Pretty common specs on both. Both are 12ga. 27-28" barrels. 1200 has full Win. choke, 2 3/4" barrel. Model 200 has modified choke, 3" barrel. Both have wearing on buttstock. 50$ each. Considering grabbing both but not sure. I'm looking for a cheaper shotgun for all around use, plinking, skeet, HD. I like the older woodstock, blueing of these guns. Not sure about upgrades or replacing of overly worn parts. I don't own a shotgun currently.

$50.00 each. If it was me I would buy both. The 1200, if I understand your description has interchangeable Winchokes, with the current choke in it being full. It will be the more versatile gun for hunting purposes as you can buy additional choke constrictions. I would probably buy both and turn the TW 200 into a 18"-20" barreled home defense gun. Then you would be set. Go get em!

I just read some info on the TW 200. According to a post on a forum it was manufactured for sears by Winchester and is internally the same as the Win. 1200, with a slightly modified shaped receiver. The other info stated is that the barrels are interchangeable between the two guns. Not sure if true, particularly sense the 1200 is a 2/4" gun and the TW 200 is a 3" gun, certainly would be cool. Again, I would buy every modern pump action shotgun I could get my hands on for $50.00. Maybe that's why I have seven shotguns, four of them pumps. What ever you get, how about some pictures.

I own a TedWilliams 200 and has been a great gun. For $50 I'd buy both with no hesitation. I paid $100 for mine around 1999 and was happy with that. Not sure if mine is the same admire had a selectable choke but it has a full shroud double bead barrel and is awesome for skeet and trap.

$50 anything these days is a steel ~ grab both and anything else offered!

Grab both, keep the one you like best and sell the other for $150. Free shotgun plus some money for ammo for you.

Buy both and use one for spare parts if need be. During the panic I traded 3 boxes of .22 LR (Federal 550 pack) for a Ted Williams in 20ga. Had a hillbilly 18" and a NIB 24" (I think) with removable chokes, and a set of chokes.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to try and grab both. I wish I could combine the two. I like the Ted Williams because it has the vented rib, 3" bolt carrier, and modified choke. But I'm vain and would like the Winchester name somewhere on the gun. It would pair nicely with the pre-64 m70 I have. Although a m12 would fit nicely too.

Didn't consider cutting down the barrel for better home defense handling on the Ted Williams. Great advice. Thanks wweigle!

A buddy had a sears/ted Williams 12 gauge back in the late 1960's.............basically it's a re-labeled Winchester 1200.
His shot alright but the sears version stocks were kind of "blocky" compared to a Winchester model...........more squared off on forearm as I remember (not the most comfortable to hold on too).
$50 bucks.buy both keep the one you like best and sell the other................or keep it for parts.................my buddy's spent allot of time being fixed!
