I hunted with a Versa Max this past season. I noticed the forearm was always loose, no matter how hard i cranked on the mag cap. It wasnt that big of a deal (im not easy on my hunting guns so there is always something loose on them). I did some research and found out it was a known problem, figured i would wait till after hunting season to deal with it.
I called Remington told them the issue and they said no problem give us serial number and we will get a new mag spring retainer and mag cap to you and it will solve problem. I provided the serial, they looked it up and told me it was made a few years back. I told them i got it 2nd hand in a trade. Asked if it was a problem, they said no not at all. I told them i was planning on using gun for a jr. Pheasant hunt on the 13th and hoped i could have parts for then. They said they would get them to me. The parts came in today, 3 days before jr hunt. They also included a hole new forearm for some reason. I put in retainer and new cap and i can tell its much tighter than before.
I am super happy with the customer service from Remington
