Shell catcher for Remington Versa Max?

I had to use a rubberband yesterday while shooting trap.

Does anyone have any insight on a shell catcher for the Versa Max?

A Google search shows some old posts on other sites complaining that they couldn't get the off-the-shelf versions to fit correctly. Not exactly sure why.

I use a hair band on my Benelli, it works like rubber band and won't break. Worth a try as they're cheap. I've been using the same one for a few months and its still going strong.

i had to resort to this on my beretta a300.

sucks having to stick something to the gun, but better than pelting the person next to me all round.

I prefer the T&S catchers that snap on the receivers, but they don't offer one for the Versamax.

However, there's a Birchwood Casey one sitting in front of my keyboard as I type this; some tips:


You'll have to play around a bit with how high/low/forwards/backwards you set it before it gets to where it works best/well.

Also, replacing the little knob of red or white plastic with a bit of small od surgical tubing over the wire can help alot with capture (my SX1 would spit some out on occasion.)

If you're one of those, rare, but extremely awesome people that are lefties AND have a port side eject, with a little bit of finagling, you can reverse the wire and voila...a left handed shell catcher...
