That's cool! not my thing but it would be a fun range toy.

me thinks the Bolsheviks will try to ban it.

        Status of my DP-12:

I shipped it to them (they paid) and it arrived on 3/8 at 1:11 PM.

They shipped it back to me on 3/10 at 5:12 PM. It's scheduled to get to me by 3/17 end of day.

I asked in an email if the shipment will include details as to what they did. I received the following reply, "Yes it will. But they ended up replacing the release bar. It's fully tested and no issues since."

Looking forward to testing it out upon return...

I bought my dp-12 about 3 weeks ago. It's definitely eye candy and appears well built but haven't taken it to the range yet.

I have a few pistols but this is first shotgun. Does anyone recommend how to clean/maintain this thing? What's necessary?

Also...for those who own one, what do you carry it in? Looking for suggestions

Any of you guys that own the DP-12, I'd be very wary of letting friends/others handle/fire it. Handing this weapon off to someone not completely familiar with its operational quirks and the associated safety deficiencies could have tragic consequences.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to watch the video below and pay close attention.

It looks like it's a bit of a pain in the ***. See from 5:30 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaW5qnYSpw0#t=05m30s for disassembly instructions.

Depends on your purpose. If you are talking self-defense rounds, 00 buck or #4 buck are my favorites.

Sorry, in terms of carrying, I meant type of case or bag : )

Right. I flipped "it in" to "in it".

I haven't figured that out yet. Even my shortest carbine case is too long.

                      Update on my DP-12 service:

I received my shotgun back today. Paper with it simply stated, "Replaced release bar". I tested it (chambered and ejected shells) and it is functioning properly in that regard. Hopefully the light primer strikes were related to this same part that they replaced. (Perhaps it wasn't fully closing the bolt and that prevented the firing pin from hitting?)

I'm not sure when I'll find the time to test fire it, but will report back after I do.

Do you mean can I confirm that you cannot put on the safety after firing one chamber, but not the other? Yes. It does behave this way.

OK I finally had a chance to take my DP-12 out for some testing after it came back from the factory.

I tried several different brands of shells, 7.5 shot, 00-buck, #4 buck, and slugs. All performed flawlessly.

So while I did appear to get a gun that made it out of the factory with a defect, the silver lining is that I got to see how Standard Manufacturing / Connecticut Shotgun service is. And I'd have to rate that as excellent. They immediately resolved the problem, no charge, and paid shipping both ways. Couldn't ask for more in that regard.
