Good shotgun load for home defense?

Not sure if this should be here or in the Ammo/Relaoding section. I figured this was the proper forum, moderator, feel free to move it.

I came across this. It seems that if you are looking for a sure stopper for home defense or possible large predators this might be the answer.

12ga slugs have been rightly known as good stoppers on dangerous game, but tend to over-penetrate in hominids. OATH Ammunition has two new designs that solve over-penetration along with greatly improving reliability in box-fed shotguns. Above is their 1.25oz 1600fps all-copper slug designed to expand to an incredible  2.5″ and penetrate just enough to punch …

I would like to hear what others have to say about this.

I like the idea of using #4 buckshot

I have a small place.... the Flight control wad is WAY to tight... I might as well use a slug.... that flight control wad really keeps the shot too tight for indoor use.....

              Coyotes- it is awesome....

Simple 2 3/4" 8 or 9 pellet OO buck has worked for a very very long time....

Until the FBI shoots a bunch of people with the newest and latest craze...

Trust your life to proven ammo.... Just my $0.02

look at the pattern for the 8 pellet at 15 yards- 5" from 2 different guns and barrel lengths

I don't have a 45 foot shot inside my home....

I believe LEO's will recommend #4 buck, gets the job done while minimize wall penetration.

I used to think so, too. But now I've switched to this:

There's a new sheriff in town. Federal LE132-1B.

Another vote for #4 but I do have a few boxes of 12 pellet S&B 00 sitting around, not sure I'd want to shoot it inside my house though

For what it's worth, I remember having these exact same debates of 00 vs number 4 buck back in 1991. We never reached a conclusion then on which way to go and we won't now. I also know of one odd duck who didn't have nearby neighborhoods and went with slugs in his.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.
