    ATI TACSX2 Semi auto?

    Anyone got one? Thoughts?

Comes with 18.5" barrel and 28" with chokes.

well an update, i picked i up yesterday from Big 5, and the 28" barrel did not come with an O-ring.

Secondly, the bolt doesn't lock back no matter what I do, and the lifter won't drop down to pick up shells out of the magazine no matter what. it seems to be stuck in the "up" position. Googling resulted in another CGN thread with a user having the exact same issue.

It was clearance, and ATI shows that they are out of stock.

I believe I am going to go back today and ask for a refund or just get something else.

This thing seemed too good to be true from ARFcoms thread, and it seems like it is.

    thumbs down

the bolt action is by design, you have to activate that little lever on the side: that will put a shell into the carrier from the mag,and/or allow you to lock the slide back. pulling the trigger triggers the lever also, so it happens you shoot it.

thread from last year on this, basically, if you're up to smithing it, it's fun, otherwise, not worth the headache

also, i should add an update to my old post: attempted to strip the gun, and while removing the barrel, the mag tube got unscrewed -- i ended up unscrewing the whole mag tube instead of just the cap. so all the guts came off, with the action spring and mag spring getting all tied together, not too big a deal to get the whole thing back together, except that on mine, the charging handle is a B to get out, had to use pliers.

Pulling the trigger, actuating any and all buttons/levers safety on/off, didnt matter. The lever was basically jammed and didn't actually actuate.

Lifter wouldn't go down to pick up a shell under any circumstance.

Basically this is same issue i had

I have read the one comment on the slugs but that is the only place it appears and nothing from ATI.
I can't get the bolt to say open, or the lifter to drop. It appears the link pin has a problem and the bold release button also is fouled.

Of course Big 5 was useless. One they don't have anymore and their answer is to send it back to the manufacture. I have heard ATI is good, so we will see. First I have to figure out what I did with the warranty card.

They replaced the trigger group, test fired the gun, and shipped her home. Very happy with the service. Have a cold today, so won't be getting down to the range to run some rounds through it until tomorrow at the earliest. They had quoted 5 weeks to handle the repair, and it took right around 3 weeks of which one week was waiting for the shipping label to arrive so that it was free to me.

I realize it's an inexpensive shotgun, but I really like the balance with either barrel, and the checkering. As soon as I have a chance to get over to On-Target I will post a review of the gun with the 18.5" barrel, and then off to Prado to try with the 28" barrel.

Unlike gantrr2's experience, Big 5 took care of me though.

I laugh harder, but not much, about the pot metal pistols. They're fine if you're looking for Phoenix, Jennings, etc.
