check my thinking on 26" vs 28" barrel 870 clone combo.

Word is longer barrel helps in clays due to stabilizing effect, but not so much in faster swinging Trap, but I'm not competing for money, just a noob getting his feet re-wetted, so a shorter barrel might be BETTER training tool.

They also say 2 less inches does make a diff in blinds and any other semi confined space, even out in the woods.

No particular real plans for the gun, just an all around.

So I'm leaning toward 26", even though the Combo also comes with an 18.5, since the 18.5" would only be used for HD or truck gun mode.

And with Rem so iffy these days and the Clone being a better built, beefed up version it seems like a no brainer to by the ChiCom, sorry to say.

      .
26" is a good sporting clays barrel length. I have an older Wingmaster that came with a factory Remington SKEET barrel, 26".

If you are pondering the purchase of a barrel combo and shotgun consisting of 26" and 18.5" barrels, that sounds like a neat deal.

Any barrel longer than 26 is good for wing shooting. I have 28" and 30" barrels on some shotguns, but I'm not much of a bird shooter.

Just my 2 cents but 26 inch barrels may be ok for skeet and youths but most people these days are shooting 30 inch plus barrels. From what I can see 32 is the new standard.

The target sports have been trending to longer barrels. But these are target guns and special steels which allow thinner barrels, so they still balance well. Trap can get away with a bit more foward bias since you aren't swing left/right much.

In the field, I like 26" and 28" for general hunting. More the 26" on the 20g and 28" on the 12g. In a duck blind 28" or 30". Helps get the muzzle blast away from your buddy.
