    California Approved Shotguns

    Hey guys, I'd like to wish you all a safe and happy holiday season..

    So I'm looking at Buds Guns and I see we have our own section of guns. I don't know about you but it makes me feel so special

    I kind of thought we were safe on shotguns. I know nothing more then 10rds and barrel length but what makes Ca so special. Is there a shotgun out there that we can't buy and own that other states can?

    I know you can't buy a Benelli M4 with a telescoping pistol grip stock.

    The flow chart is at the top of the page.

      Pretty much this ^^^

      It's not that it's a Benelli it's that it's semi auto. A semi auto with a telescoping pistol grip is no bueno. But you can pretty much get whatever you want on a pump gun. Check the chart.

        Shotguns that are defined by CA laws as assault weapons and/or short barrel shotguns.

          This vvvvvv

          Semiautomatic must be fixed-magazine. No "featureless" option that allows a detachable magazine.

          Folding or telescoping buttstock, or pistol grip, by themselves, is legal (with fixed magazine).
          You cannot have both.

          So the typical Benelli is okay since it has a fixed mag and pistol grip but fixed buttstock

            That pistol grip collapsible stock on the Benelli M4 is a waste of money anyways, makes the gun feel awkward. If you want to go balls out, get the Benelli M4 fitted with a straight sporting stock, best feeling "tactical" shotgun in the world right now.

              I guess I was shocked to see some many shotguns that are Ca legal in stock that weren't listed in their Ca section..

              Thanks guys

                I could see its merits if you're wearing armor and want to run it real short. But I prefer the fixed pistol grip stock on the M4. One day I'll get one, fantastic shotgun.

                  Basically you can't buy a shotgun if:

                  * Its a SPAS 12, Law 12, Striker 12, or Streetsweeper
                  * It has a revolving cylinder (like a Streetsweeper)
                  * Its an SBS
                  * It is semi auto with detachable mags
                  * It is semi auto and has both a pistol grip and folding/telescoping stock

                  So most shotguns are fine, but shotguns like the Saiga 12 you'll have to be careful to not have both a pistol grip and folding stock at the same time, and will need a magazine lock.

                    I always wanted one of the rotating drum magazine Streetsweepers.

                        One thing to note is that while in Ca you can no longer legally acquire a +10 round mag, if you have one, you can legally use it on a fixed magazine shotgun, semi auto shotgun without violating CA AW laws. This is not the case with rifles or handguns though.

                            The good old days of the early 80's, walk into gun shop with $500 and walk out with a SPAS-12

                            I miss those days
