How can I remove some roll marks?

I've got an older Remington 1100 that I bought really cheap back when I lived in Ohio to use for deer hunting. I then sold the barrel and stock replaced them with a rifled slug barrel and camouflage shurshot stock. The gun is now at the gunsmith being drilled and tapped for a scope mount and having the barrel pinned to the receiver. The question I have, is there a way to fill a mark on the side of the receiver that reads "skeet b"? I'd like to remove it and possibly replaced it with something else indicating that it is now a dedicated slug gun, maybe "super slug" like the 870 or "old slugger". Is this possible and if so how would I go about doing it? I'm going to have the gun either duracoated or cerakoted when I do it.

Thanks for the help in advance. I'll try to post some pics.

So, you can't tell it's dedicated slug gun by looking at it ?

Messing wit the markings on the receiver will Booger it up. It looks good to me. Leave it as is. Yes, really.

Since you are going to camo the reciever. You can just fill the lettering with JB-Weld and sand flush before coating. Use a dental pick to scuff the low spots in the lettering for a good bond. POOF, gone.

Personally I wouldn't mess with it. But not my shotty.

Good luck with your venison gethering.

I just wanted to take my personalization to the next level I guess. I probably should have mentioned, the gun isn't getting camouflaged. All the metal parts will be black, just don't want it blued. I actually wanted to get it parkerized but haven't found anyone on the central coast to do it. The finish on the gun is the only compromise I've made so far. Would silver solder work and could it be restamped?

silver solder would not be ideal for this. It could be tig welded then ground clean and re finished but this would be a lot of work. I would just leave it as-is.

TIG was actually the other thing I was thinking. I have a guy that can do it for me and one of my co-workers has a mill that I can use to get it leveled back out.

                +1 on both counts..

jb weld standard cure [don't use rapid cure] wipe flush with squeegee..

let harden which will shrink some and reapply as above until flush with minimal sanding..

but personally I would leave it alone.. not a big fan of altered manufacturers data on anything..

it's tough playing perry mason 50 years later when the gun comes up for sale by the 5th owner..

                good luck though either way

I think I'm a little young for that Perry Mason reference. Lol. I'll see what the gun smith has to say about it when I pick it up in a few months. Judging by the pictures, I don't think the markings are very deep, especially compared to the scroll design.

                    Forget covering it up,
                    just add 4 more letters...

                    Then you'd own a "rare" one-of-a-kind...

we gave it all we had in the first few responses, now we're only left with silly ones

                            no harm intended..

I think you'll find a suitable cheap filler that will harden and finish smooth enough for coating of your choice.. JB weld suggested twice..

                            good luck!

                              Yeah, sorry man.
I was only joking around, I meant no harm.

I think it's beautiful just the way it is but I would also go with JB Weld if I had to do something inexpensive myself or turn it over to a gunsmith for them to do something professional looking and expensive.
