One thing I've heard of working well is leaving a kennel with the dogs favorite things, water, and a couple of unlaundered shirts from the dogs best friend/owner in the crate.

Often times the dog will circle back around to where it was lost and will stay with the scent of the owner in the kennel.

        Best of luck OP.

I hope you find her, man that sucks.

Bumping this up, hopefully SoCal CG folk in your area might be able to help you out in your search efforts this weekend.

          Best of luck.

Does she respond to a whistle? Or other sound? If so, I'd pack up for a multi-day track with all the right gear and plan a route through the countryside making the sounds she responds to. Maybe drop some cloth with your scent periodically where you know for certain you can find the cloth again and after you've completed your trek, do it in reverse and retrieve all the cloths along the way. With some luck you'll find her at one of the cloth drops.

Good luck to you and her.
Going out to track her is a good idea. I would head to the area where she was last seen and start casting for spoor.

Instead of dropping multiple cloths for your scent trail, you can use a sprayer like this:

Put an article of clothing with your scent on it and fill the bottle with water. Agitate and start spraying the scent on the ground. This method is used to train SAR dogs for tracking on various surfaces. It might work for you as well in this situation. Good luck!

Good luck finding your buddies pup, I hope it turns out well and that she makes it home happy and healthy.

Maybe rig up a battery powered speaker and MP3 player with a recording of you calling to her to try to help her locate you, sort of like an coyote caller? Or whistles if she's whistle trained? Dunno if that's practical, I'm just tossing out ideas.

I'm not familiar with the area, but you mention that the collar lost communication around the junction of a road? I'm hoping someone didn't steal her...

I'm not sure if someone already suggested this, but have you tried ruining a craigslist ad?
