So I came across a .410 Mossey 500, short barrel, pistol grip $200 bucks. Not much money, but I was thinking of it as an application for the spousal units HD shotty. I know the .410 discussion has been beat to death, I was just wondering about the price. My last 2-12ga 500s we that or a couple bucks less. Don't come up on .410 pumps often. PAX

Throw a youth stock on there, proper ammo, and it should be good to go.Comment

Good choice. I think 000 buck in .410 gives you 4 or 5 projectiles each about the size of a 9mm slug.Comment

I have a 410 upper for one of my AR's and its awesome. Slugs are accurate out pass 25 yards.

for 200 bucks jump on it, hell I would just to have one.
Replace the stock and yeah a 410 is not my first choice in HD but its better than shaking my wang (even though its dangerous
) and no one ever volunteered to let me shoot them with a .410

I like Mossberg shotguns and I'm not putting the 410 gauge down for a spouse who doesn't like recoil.
it might be a good choice but here's the thing to consider,
go check the price of 410 ammo ( of all types and brands you think you might buy) compared to 12 gauge or even low recoil 12 gauge stuff.
If it's your home defense gun hopefully you'll both do a lot of practice with it & if the Ammo is pricey that can get expensive and then you don't end up practicing as much as you should.
That's just my two cents , and I haven't been buying 410 ammo lately so I could be all wrongComment

The pistol grip needs to be upgraded to a proper stock. Price that out before making the purchase. My guess is that it is an ok deal doing so.RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.Comment

I've had it for several years and to be honest I don't remember where I found it, I haven't seen them for sale in a long time. The one I have is ammo sensitive, overall length of the shot shell cannot be any longer then 2 3/8" otherwise it will jam on extraction. ATI was the exclusive manufacturer of ammo for these uppers. I have found some Remington slugs that will work. Luckily for me I have a couple cases of ATI ammo. Below is a target showing accuracy of this upper at 25 yards with Remington 1/5th oz. slugs.

If it sits for a while I'll offer less. If it goes away, I won't cry. She has a savage model 24 and Beretta Jaguar now (amongst other selections). PAXYou need a crew
