I need recommendations

I have a friend who has very little use of his nondominate arm, so he has to use a shotgun with one arm. He went dove hunting in September and he is beginning to go trap shooting. He bought a Stoeger 12 guage, and I believe it is a Model 3500. Recently, he rented and tried a Franchi over/under and his trap scores significantly increased. He attributes the increased scores because the Franci is much lighter and easier to use.

He is interested in buying another shotgun that is better suited for him. I told him that I would put this out on calguns and seek your suggestions, and I am going to give him a link to this thread. I don't think he wants to spend a lot of money since he is a recreational shooter and hunter.

Have him give Susan Sledge a call down at P2K range (Project 2000 Range) as she would be a good source of information. She is a world class shooter who could provide him with specifics for his situation.

yea she is. I shot with her at the trap fall selection match in Tucson earlier this month.

I'll second a good coach...ask if they have worked with shooters such as your friend.

Since all the supporting arm does is hold up the SG and not much else,
there are things that can be done. Things to get the arm to play a part in supporting the shotgun or rig some kind of support to hold the SG . The only way to address the issue is in person with person who can offer possible solutions

As to making more hits with Franchi, there are a half dozen reasons that it can be, or more then one, or a few. Again we are here and not watching him shoot.

You can also try contacting the Wounded Warrior chapter in your area and ask if there are any clays coaches near by.....Regardless if he is a vet or not, I'm sure that a coach will not turn him away.

Elevation control is about it, a properly balanced gun for his situation would be in order, given this a gun that is butt heavy may be a possible solution. Easy to say from here...Just a thought...

Dunno about 1+ arm, but love my Benelli Montefeltro 20g in the light weight department. Shoots target loads very softly too.

I'd disagree that the weak arm only does elevation. On trap mostly perhaps, but other games/hunting not so much.

The Benneli Montefeltro is a great idea, super light weight and not a bad price. On other option is the Benelli Ethos, again really light, but a little higher on price.
