I just bought a century arms PW87 (winchester 1887 clone). From reviews of the weapon people say that you need to forcefully work the lever for it to function. However I'm having the opposite problem. If I work the lever too hard it sends both the spent shell and new shell flying out of the receiver or it flips the new shell so it is facing the wrong way. the ejectors also do not always positively grasp and eject the spent shell as well. Anyone own one of these lever shotguns and know how to troubleshoot this issue?

Troubleshooting a lever action shotgun?

Not really. But I did figure out that as long as I keep it oiled it won't give me issues. You have to practise stroking it correctly.

What shells are you using? Guy that shoots at local range has an original. They do not like 2-3/4 shells; they are too long. He buys, and reloads a shorter shell. They are 65mm and 67mm length shells versus standard 2-3/4 shell which is 70mm.
One of the links 3006mv shared above talks about bolt and action modifications so those shotguns can handle regular 2-3/4" shells.
Apparently when the Chinese copied the the '87, they did not update it for 2-3/4" shells.
Last weekend saw the guy at the range clear a full round of skeet with that lever action shotgun.Comment
