Has anyone handled the Beretta Xcel 400 Multi Target?

    I want one.

    What's your thoughts?

No, I don't want to pay less and get a Parallel Target.

I handled one last month. I saw a group on the next field over and noticed it; went over and talked to the guy.

    The owner's impressions:

He liked it, as a 'for fun' gun, but not for competing. He thought the adjustable rib, comb and comb hardware were not as good as a Perazzi, and he also felt the Fabarm XLR5 was better built. Mind you, there was an MX8 and an MX2005 with their group.

    My impressions:

Does feel like my A400 Xcel had an affair with an XLR5 and the Multi was the result. Nicer wood than the Xcel. The B-Fast adjustable rib seemed alright; can't comment on strength or durability, but I'd think it would be fine. The way it was set up was a bit to high for my tastes (I like flatter shooting guns for all the disciplines.)

The guys comments about it not being 'competitive' i think stemmed from his apparent preferences for O/Us for sporting clays. Also, apples to oranges. My Xcel, and probably more than a few other A400s, do well in the NSCA scene.

I on the other hand, have a general preference for autos for trap and sporting clays.

Here's some other folks' thoughts and experiences:

Picked up the new A400 during the Grand. Beretta did a great job on this gun. The rib is click adjustable. No set screw to fool with. The comb is adjustable with steel and aluminum hardware. No more plastic hardware. The bolt handle and bolt release are both extended. Much better wood than...

You COULD buy an A400 Parallel for $1700, get an adjustable comb for $250, and an Add-A-Rib Adjust-A-Rib for $200, plus an extended bolt handle and closer for another $100, and then refinish the action, all for....the price a few bucks less than a Multitarget

PS - If you want one without the Kick-Off, Joel Etchen Guns has some....
