    I like it!

They used to have something similar called the "Homeland Security" model, the Brady Bunch got all angsty about the name.

Fixed barrel so that it make a better club! Downward ejection is nice. It could use the option of extended magazine tubes, but I love the wood furniture especially that fore-end. If only it was 150$ cheaper Looks like a great KISS home defense shotgun.

Do people really lose their barrels? I've been around Mossberg 500s for home defense for over 10 years and I can't think of a time when I thought "Man, I wish this came in a fixed barrel version! this nut is always coming loose!" Even with the 2 barrel models its pretty easy to keep track of that 18.5" one.

Looks like somebody had a lot of time on their hands and "fixed" something that wasn't broken. Whatever that is, its not a model 37. A fixed barrel? No support for magazine tube? I was looking forward to the re-introduction of the Defense model. But after seeing this monstrosity, I'll pass.

I don't understand why they chose to make it a fixed barrel. I like the Model 37's but it would seem that a better choice would to buy and standard detachable barrel model and then cut the barrel to the defender length or buy a replacement barrel.

            That ain't an ithica 37...

You'd be better served with a Chinese knock off of the original than that POS....

the mag tube is unsupported in that design... it looks like it would be prone to twisting.

Not for me. Just curious as to opinions.

Hmm, I was hoping for a classic DSPS.

                    Hey, someone jacked my pics!

Actually, only the top one is a DSPS. The bottom one is an actual 2005 "Homeland Security" model (basically a 3" magnum copy of an "M&P" M-37), built shortly before the King Ferry iteration of Ithaca went tits-up.

And as for that new "M37 Defense", I'd kick way more on the unsupported mag tube than I would the fixed barrel. That mag tube is an accident waiting to happen, at least on an SD gun.

Just curious, how would you clean that thing from the breech?

If the barrel's fixed, you don't. Cleaning a shotgun barrel from the muzzle is really no issue though, as there's no crown or rifling to worry about damaging.
