    870 top-folding stock

Is there suppose to something in or on the bottom of a factory 870 top-folder pistol grip? I just installed mine and noticed that the pistol grip is hollow but there is a (hinge screw?) hole on one of the bottom corners. To me it appears that there may have been some sort of base plate on the bottom. Can someone with one of these confirm if it is simply open on the bottom and hollow inside or is there suppose to be a base plate or something else down there?

It's supposed to be hollow the hole was for a sling swivel.

Thanks for your reply. One last question re: the factory top folder: When I have the stock folded over the top of the gun, it seems like it should lock in place by the little round button that is also used to lock it in place when it is extended. Is this what is suppose to happen? Mine wont. It seems like it is just a hair away from popping out enough to lock it in place when folded, but it just doesn't. Please let me know if yours locks in place when you fold it.

      Thanks,
