Wife just picked one up in 12ga today. It's colored cased harden, pre 60's production, and has the factory bead screwed onto the barrel.
The gun looks good almost unused except it looks like someone slathered it in varnish like it was cosmoline and being stored. I know tradition was to do that with CCH metal but this looks like vintage bubba did it. Another thing we noticed was the trigger guard and top lever was painted in black and it chipped away before varnished (factory maybe?).
Aside from all that is there any other info you guys have? Maybe a bit more history? What parts had what finish? Etc...
