    1100 Needs bluing

I need to get a Remington 1100 reblued. I checked Tech Plate, but they're way too expensive for this old field gun. I'm just looking for a matte cold bluing, or even parkerized finish in So-Cal. I'm will ship to out of state if needed. Any recommendations would be most appreciated. Remember its my field gun not, a safe queen.

If you aren't looking for an heirloom quality finish can't you just do the job yourself then?

Glenrock bluing for sure if you want a high quality job. I recently had an old S&W model 27 4 screw redone, could not be more pleased; museum quality work. Very fair prices.

If you want it parkerized send it to APPI. Here again first rate work at very fair prices.

I inherited a Remington model 1100 from the late seventies, hunted hard and put away wet by a hard core family water fouler. I evaluated spending the money to have it re-blued or having some other coating done. Even though the gun functions perfectly and is a great shooter with only the finish an issue, I ultimately chose to just paint it myself with some decent spray paint, baking on the finish it my oven. She's no beauty queen, but it worked fine, seems to be holding up, and did not cost me but a few bucks for the paint. Having lots of shotguns may have influenced my decision to spend little money on the finish, but ultimately the paint finish is fully functional, protects it from the elements and seems to be holding up just fine. Modern spray paint, even the consumer grade in spray cans applied correctly, with proper prep, and baked on holds up very well, and can be reapplied when necessary.

I used Glenrock bluing to re-blue an Rem 1100 shotgun barrel. They were cheap, fast and the barrel looked better than new.

That's a new product that looks easy.
I've done cold bluing with good results using Brownell's Oxpho Blue
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

You can't beat parkerizing for a field gun. I had a friend who worked at a camshaft regrinder. We dipped a lot of guns too.
