20 gauge <20" shotgun?

Looking for a HD shotgun in 20 gauge. Thinking pump, but open to a semi. I do want one that feels solid. Looking cool's a plus, too. :-)

In a local shop I handled an 870 in 18" or 20". $499 with 2 barrels, but it felt on the cheap side (an Express?). I also handled a $249 (on sale) Mossberg 500 @ Big 5 that felt on the cheap side.

I'd really like an 870 Police/Marine in 20 gauge, but I see it only in 12 gauge. The Benelli Montefeltro semi is *gorgeous* (handled one), but I don't see a short barrel. Is it possibe that there are models that I'm not seeing?

Any recommendations on a 20 ga with 18' - 20" barrel?

20 ga. 870 wingmaster. You can find lightly used ones for around $350-$400 with a little looking around. 870 Expresses should smooth out with use. I actually really dig the 870 HD in 20 ga, I think it'll be a really great home defense shotgun for smaller framed people. Stick a Surefire foreend on there and you'll be good to go!

That sounds perfect. Is there such a beast in a short barrel? The web site shows only 26" and 28". Hope this link works:

For this you'll have to build one up with a used 26" 870 Wingmaster 20 ga.

Here's a rifle sighted blued barrel for the 20 ga. Unfortunately I can't find one for just the bead sight, but rifle barrel is more precise for shooting slugs at longer distances.

Here's the 12 ga. version I built up a while ago. I got tired of all the "tactical black" looking shotgun and wanted one a little "classier."

Mossberg has a new 500 tactical 6 shot in 20 gauge that looks good.

Remington makes up a security version of the express 870 in 20ga. Mossberg makes the 500 in 20 ga with 18 1/2" barrles as well.
