Difference between Big 5 --Mossberg 500 combo & Mossberg 500 SILVER combo

Looking for my first shotgun. I like the Mossberg 500.

At Big 5, what's the difference between the Mossberg 500 combo and the Mossberg 500 Silver combo?

All I see is a silver trigger.
    Anything else?

Yesterday I just picked up my Mossberg 500 Silver combo. I asked the Big 5 manager the exact same question. He said the only difference is the trigger Marinecote finish (silver).

Do they both come with removable choke tubes?

The Big 5 Mossberg combos are great first shotgun choices. I have one myself. Rarely ever use the long barrel, though. The 18" barrel is fixed cylinder bore and the 28" is fixed modified.
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

Agreed. It's a great, reliable choice as a first shotgun. Plus you can use it for HD or clays, and it's easy to sell if you decide you want to spend more money down the road.

Fixed modified choke on the 28" is a good starting point anyway.

The cheap big 5 combos action slide assembly is one piece with the forend and the action arms molded into the forend plastic, and has benn known to fail easily.

The standard 500 has the action arms pinned into the metal action slide assembly with the forend that is removable.

I don't know if the Big 5 500's forend is more prone to failure or not (I haven't had any issues with it after 2k rounds so far), but it might affect what forends you can replace it with, if you want an aftermarket forend anyways.

I have at least 1500 rounds through my Big 5 bought Mossy 500 combo, probably closer to 2500 actually, and it has had no issues. A good choice for a first shotgun. I've fired 99% using the long barrel (clays).
