Which one should I get?

I vote for the Maverick. If you want a pistol grip(like mine below), the Maverick has a triggerguard mounted safety. Whereas the Mossberg is on the top. The RIA is interesting, as it has a spring loaded slide, but except for the 7 round mag all other accessories will have to be modified Mossberg parts.

However, some accessories won't fit the cheaper Mossbergs. Can't say whether the Maverick is one of them, but if you end up liking the Surefire forend light for the Mossy, you may find that it won't work with your gun. Either at all, or not without a lot of extra work.

Frankly, I'd spend the extra money on a 500.

Mossberg is an excellent choice, though.

It will work, but you will need a action slide tube, as all of the newer inexpensive Mossbergs and Mavericks use no action tube, just a one piece fore end.

So for HD, I'd pick the one that won't shine in the dark.
Buy the black one.

I have an 88 with field and security barrels, and I LOVE it. Really smooth action. It does have poly trigger guard and parts, but I only shoot around 100 rds annually so I did not care.

Plus it is a Maverick. That name just means its bad ***.

Just got the email, now through Sunday Big5 has the Mossberg 500 combo on sale for $299. You can choose between 12G or 20G.

Maverick is a good one to get. RIA is nice too.

For the money, spend the extra $100 and get the 500 combo gun. Much better all around.

You can always upgrade to "luxury" when you discover if you really like the shotgun
