What's the difference between these two shotguns?

I have been looking at these two shotguns, but I couldn't find any differences between the two. I tried searching online but couldn't find any post that does a comparison.

If I were looking for a tactical shotgun I would consider a Mossberg 590

Why? What advantage does one has over the other?

There the same. The flex mean you can swap stocked grips, ect. I love 590s and 500s. The big differences between the two are cost and weight.

Basically the same guns. The only difference I can tell is the Flex system. Flex is Mossberg's quick release/quick detach for stocks, forends and other accessories. If you anticipate converting from one configuration to another often (hunting to clays to HD), then the flex system might be worth it. However, if you are just going to use the shotgun as is, then I would consider the non-flex system.

EDIT: I was beaten to it.

The receivers for all the Mossbergs are the same as far as I know. The real difference between the 500 and 590 are in the magazine tubes and barrels. The 500 uses a closed end magazine tube and the barrel is attached to the mag tube with a big flat screw. The 590 has an open magazine tube and the barrel attaches with a big nut. The open tube allows for the easy addition of a magazine extension which replaces the nut and screws right on. In addition, the 590a1 uses a heavier gauge barrel, metal trigger assembly and metal safety selector (500 uses polymer for the last two parts). I have a 590a1 and it is a great gun.

If you are interested in a pistol grip on these shotguns, consider a Remington 870 due to safety placement.

Or if you want to stay Mossberg then go with the Maverick in the same configuration for even less money.

How's the quality comparing Maverick and the 500 series? Also, I thought the new Remington 870s aren't as reliable as the older version. I read some complaints concerning their shell extractors. Is that true?

I see no difference in quality between Mav and 500 except for the relocated safety.

Despite what some fanbois might claim, it seems many new 870s (Express model) are plagued with rough chambers and problematic extraction.

On edit: Mavs are assembled in Mexico while the 500s are put together in the US.

In that case I think I will stick with Mossberg.

Thank you all for your help!
