    M1S90 barrel length help

    Hello all,

I recently picked up another HK/Benelli M1 Super 90, but it comes with an 18.5 inch barrel. My current one has the same, with the same ghost ring sights. Anyway, I wanted to get another barrel, one slightly longer with removable choke tubes. Should I go with 21 or 24 inch? The gun will be used for training classes, maybe some three gun (if I ever get to it), and some trap shooting. I have several shotguns with longer barrels, some with 18 inch barrels, so I was thinking about something in the middle. Thoughts?

I had a Mossy with a 22" barrel, and I thought it was a really nice length. Handy, but not too short.

Unfortunately, the options are 21 or 24, no 22 as a choice. Shame, I wouldn't be asking if that was the case!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I think the 21" would be a nice length.

Great, thanks for clearing that up. It seems that 21 inch is the way to go for most people. My only concern would be how well the choke tubes will work and how the gun will pattern at longer distances since these barrel lengths are turkey barrels.

I only patterned mine to about 20 yards. The turkey choke would tighten it up pretty well with bird shot. Not nearly as well with buck. It was actually tighter and more consistent with a IC or modified choke with buck than and the extra full turkey choke.
