Mossberg 500 Combo from Big5 Length?

    Hey all, first time poster.

I just picked up Mossberg 500 12-Gauge pump "Combo" from Big5 last Friday, and I'm currently in the waiting period so I don't have it on hand.

I just wanted to know the actual dimensions/length of this shotgun when the 18.5" barrel is attached, as well as with the 28" barrel attached.
(Both would be with the standard factory stock on.)

Does anyone have one lying around that they could measure?

I'm looking to buy a locking case for the thing before it arrives, but since I don't have it on hand, I can't confirm the length.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

      Thanks, Rob.
I was hoping to find out if a breakdown shotgun case would work, but would need the overall length specs from the Mossberg.

I would have the 18.5" barrel mounted 99% of the time for home defense, and could slip the extra 28" barrel as well. So it could be pretty small... especially, if I elect for a pistol grip, etc.

        I have a 7+1 model.

Off the top of my head,
The standard stock is 13", the receiver is 8" and a 5 round mag tube should be somewhere around 12"-14".

          Thanks, Kriz.
So total length with the 18.5" barrel is in the neighborhood of 32"?

I want the shotgun to fit in a the smallest case possible under the bed for home defense, etc. So total length is what I would like to know most, thanks.

The 500 with a 18.5" barrel is around 39.5", adding folding stock would get it under 32".

I have to remove the 28" barrel when I put it into my case, usually have the 18.5" on it though even when I go skeet shooting.

Why woudl you have it in a case if you have it for HD? if you gotta get to it quickly trying to unlatch a case while startled from sleep may take more than a few seconds.

Well for me personally, I'd like a locking case for it for the following:
                    1. When transporting to the range, etc.
                    2. When nieces/nephews are over so they don't get into it.

I understand that for home defense you don't want it locked 24/7, and it won't be. I want to keep it dust free with a moisture absorbent pack inside. It will just be inside the unlocked case ready to go if need be, and then having the locking option for points 1 and 2 above is an added option.

with the 28" barrel the overall length is 47 1/2"
                      subtract 9 1/2" for the 18 1/2" barrel
